The 10 Worst Foods to Eat if You Have Acne


If you suffer from acne, there are several foods that you should try to avoid. Among those foods, there are ten foods that you should try to avoid as much as you possibly can if you want to keep your acne at bay. This article is going to go through those foods and discuss a bit about them for you.

1 Bacon

If you’re one of those people that needs bacon for breakfast every morning and do not even like the idea of eating breakfast without bacon, then you’re probably going to be extremely upset to find out that bacon is horrible for your skin. The majority of the problem lies in the grease that bacon is infamous for having. Because of that, if you can’t quit eating bacon, you can do yourself a huge favor and try to bake your bacon in the oven instead of frying it. You should also try to towel a bit of the grease off the bacon before you eat it as well.

2. French Fries

In all honesty, this shouldn’t come to a surprise to anyone. French fries contain two different problems when it comes to acne: white grains(we’ll get into this later) and grease. Both of these can cause your skin to break out horribly. Combined, you are getting a real knockout in terms of acne causing foods. Try to stay away from french fries as much as you possibly can.

3. Burgers

This isn’t going to please anyone. Most people would think that eating a burger isn’t going to cause many problems with their skin, but that’s quite wrong. The red meat in burgers can be very bad for your skin, as well as the fact that most of them are fried. They also tend to have other additions that are horrible for your skin(like cheese, salt, etc).

4. Pizza

Pizza contains multiple bad things for your skin. First off, it contains cheese. Cheese is infamous for breaking your skin out. Second, it contains white grains. This is also known to break your skin out. The toppings on pizza are often known for being unhealthy as well. While you can get healthy pizza, it’s generally not a food choice that you should pick if you are looking out for your skin care.

5. Dairy

Dairy products are infamous for being horrible for your skin. Cheeses, milk, sauces, etc… All of them are known to cause severe acne in anyone who eats them. Try to limit your intake of dairy products as much as you possibly can.

6. Butter

Here’s a big one. Butter is horrible for your skin. Often made out of refined milk and large amounts of salts, butter will break your skin out like you couldn’t believe – and that’s the healthy butter! Most butter now days are made with tons of trans fats and unhealthy oils. Stay away if at all possible. You can replace butter with a healthier alternative: olive oil.

7. Excessive protein

Many men and women who are into bodybuilding find that they regularly get acne all over their body(even in some very unsightly places). Most of the time, they just assume it is due to stress or lack of sleep. However, they are very wrong. The reason that they get acne all over their entire body is that excessive protein causes acne almost as much as everything else on the list combined! Because your body can not process the amount of protein that it is consuming, it has to dispel the protein somehow, and the easiest way to do that is through acne.

8. Chocolate

For you choco-holics out there, this one can be tough to give up. However, chocolate is infamous for causing acne. The cocoa alone does not cause acne, however, the sugar and salt that is combined with the chocolate does. Both sugar and salt are known for causing acne – combine them both in one delicious snack that’s hard to put away and you’ve got your skin’s worst nightmare!

9. Wheat Products

Wheat products are often considered healthy, and because of that, very few people expect this to be on the list. However, the human body has a hard time digesting the amount of fiber that is in wheat products(Yes, too much fiber IS a bad thing), and because of that, it considers the food that you are eating an enemy of your body and begins attacking it immediately. Because of the added stress on your body from chasing out what it considers bad and unhealthy, your body starts to form acne. While wheat products are much healthier than our next acne causing food, they are still not good for your skin!

10. White grains

White grains cause acne on multiple fronts – each being due to the high amount of carbs that white grains have. The high amount of carbs tends to send your body into shock while digesting them, releasing a lot of insulin into the body. The stress of the body’s insulin breaking down the carbs is massive, and can cause acne in anyone. The body’s main carb source should be fruits and vegetables. Due to this, when ingesting a lot of carbs from white grains, the body does not know how to respond, and starts dispelling toxins any way it can – acne being a very common method.

Limiting your intake of these ten food sources will greatly reduce the amount of acne that you suffer from. It might take a bit of will power at first, however, you’ll see your skin clearing up in no time!
